A DIFFERENT MAN

Watch Trailer Director: Aaron Schimburg
Cast: Sebastian Stan, Renate Reinsve, Adam Pearson, Michael Shannon

Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The First Avenger, Pam & Tommy) stars in a new film from A24 Studios that blends black-comedy and psychological horror, in addition to making a strong statement about how our society deals with disability.

Edward is a reclusive man struggling under the burden of living with a severe case of neurofibromatosis, a medical condition that has caused major disfigurement to his face. With dreams of leading a normal life, he opts to undergo an experimental treatment that promises to undo the debilitating illness and allow him to be seen in public free from ridicule. After a long and arduous ordeal, the treatment is successful and Edward emerges as a new, good-looking man. With a new lease on life, he starts diving in to all the world has to offer, seeking a new identity for himself. However, this behavior soon causes Edward to start spiraling and suffering an identity crisis. To make matters worse, he encounters a strange man named Oswald – a man who himself has neurofibromatosis, but who is has more swagger than Edward ever had in his previous life – and Edward is forced to really “look into the mirror” to find out who he really is.

Written and directed by Aaron Schimberg, this at-times-surreal film features a show-stealing cameo from Adam Pearson, a gifted actor born with neurofibromatosis in real life. The film debuted at the Sundance Festival to wide acclaim from critics and audiences who praise Sebastian Stan’s performance as the best in his career thus far.
