TRUTH: Last Day Wednesday, November 25th

Watch Trailer Director: James Vanderbilt
Writer(s): James Vanderbilt, Mary Mapes
Cast: Cate Blanchett, Robert Redford, and Topher Grace

*The heating in the theater showing Truth was previously out of order. It has now been repaired. Thank you for your patience!*

In 2004, Mary Mapes (Cate Blanchett), an award-winning CBS News journalist and Dan Rather’s producer, uncovered that a sitting US president may have been AWOL from the United States National Guard for over a year during the Vietnam War. When the story blew up in their face, the ensuing scandal ruined Dan Rather’s career, nearly changed a US Presidential election, and almost took down all of CBS News in the process.

“A new entry among the pantheon of great journalism movies. Blanchett is electrifying.” – Rafer Guzman, Newsday

“As Mapes, Blanchett burns on a high flame, and Redford finds the wounded dignity in Rather.” -Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

“More than most docudramas about fairly recent events, it is so well written and acted that it conveys a convincing illusion of veracity.” -Stephen Holden, New York Times

Cast: Ron Livingston, Melissa George, and Michael Sheen

The story of celebrated public speaker Richard Pimentel comes to the screen in this biographical drama starring Ron Livingston, Melissa George, Rebecca De Mornay, and Hector Elizondo. Pimentel’s idol is College Bowl founder Dr. Padrow (Elizondo), but upon trying out for Dr. Padrow, the ambitious young speaker is informed that he won’t have anything to talk about until he has lived a full life. Realizing that there is some merit to Dr. Padrow’s observation, Pimenel subsequently enlists in the military and prepares for duty in Vietnam. Later, while fighting on the battlefield, Pimentel loses his hearing and returns home disabled. Frustrated when others inform him that he will never achieve his dreams due to the fact that he is disabled, the determined veteran makes it his mission to prove them wrong. But it isn’t as much about changing others’ perceptions of the disabled as it is about altering their perceptions of themselves, and with a little help from foul-mouthed, cerebral palsy-stricken genius Art Honeyman (Michael Sheen), free-spirited beauty Christine (George), and mercurial, hard-drinking veteran Mike Stoltz (Yul Vázquez), Pimentel will play a pivotal role in creating the Americans With Disabilities Act, and finally discover his inner music.
