When they find the corpse of their father on the floor of their bathroom, siblings Andy and Piper are affected deeply by the scene. Their grief and bereavement set the tone for the sinister events that follow as both brother and sister are taken in by a strange ex-social worker (who has lost a daughter) to reside in a cabin in the woods. Andy, soon to be 18, plans to assume legal guardianship of his sister, so the new arrangement seems to be only temporary. However, things take a darker turn when the siblings encounter an odd little boy who is somehow at the heart of a bizarre ritual that their new “parent” hopes will bring back her own dead child.
