EXIT THROUGH THE ATHENA: Paint & Sip

Calling all cinephiles and wannabe street artists!

With the success of our “Trip to the Athena” Méliès-themed paint & sip, we are excited to announce our next movie-themed paint & sip event, Exit Through the Athena, inspired by the graffiti street artist – Banksy. Once selected as one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world, Banksy continues to captivate with his well-known street art and mysterious identity.

OHIO Graduate Art Student Brooke Ripley will lead a 2 hour course that will guide you thru the creation of a graffiti-esque painting inspired by Banksy’s iconic style.

About the Teacher

Brooke Ripley is a multimedia artist who works with speculative fiction to represent the experience of the climate crisis. She received her BFA in Fine Arts from the Columbus College of Art and Design, with minors in Art History and Social Practice, and is currently a third-year MFA candidate at Ohio University in the Painting and Drawing Department. Registration for the basic course is $30.00 and includes all supplies for your 16×20 painting.

Prepare to be inspired ahead of the paint & sip event by watching the critically acclaimed Banksy documentary EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP. We will be bringing the doc as a one time special screening ahead of the paint & sip on Saturday, March 2nd at 1:00p.m.

Paint & Sip tickets and film tickets must be purchased separately.

LOVING VINCENT AT THE ATHENA: Paint & Sip

Calling all cinephiles and Impression-able artists – We’ve got the perfect way to celebrate Mother’s Day!

We’re thrilled to announce our next movie-themed paint & sip event: Loving Vincent at the Athena, inspired by the world-renown painter Vincent Van Gogh! Van Gogh’s work has stood the test of time, filled museums around the world, and continues to move and enchant viewers of all ages with its rich colors, interesting subject matter, and fluid technique. Not only that, but the life story of Van Gogh himself has kept fans and scholars busy for more than a century trying to get to the heart of what propelled his rise to greatness and his tragic decent into madness.

A TRIP TO THE ATHENA: Paint & Sip

Calling all cinephiles and dreamers!

Join us for a movie-themed Paint & Sip event inspired by Méliès’ iconic 1902 silent film A TRIP TO THE MOONRegister for this two-hour paint lesson and bring home your own 16×20 A TRIP TO THE MOON inspired painting.

Taught by Graduate Art Student, Brooke Ripley. Brooke will lead a 2 hour course using acrylics and exploring the technique of glazing to reflect the style of film colorization explored in early film. Brooke Ripley is a multimedia artist who works with speculative fiction to represent the experience of the climate crisis.
