Structured as a triptych, the film follows three family groups who all struggle with the ties that bind one another together and the dysfunction that arises when secrets are kept from the ones we love: In the US, siblings travel to meet their estranged and reclusive father who seems wealthier than normal; In Dublin, Ireland, an aging writer is reunited with her daughters on the one day each year that they see each other only to discover that all is not well; and, in Paris, two siblings share memories of their parents who died tragically in a plane crash and later learn some secret truths about who they really were. Brilliantly tying these stories together is a gold Rolex watch — a symbol of the passage of time, perhaps..? — that plays an important role in each of the narratives.
