About the film
As a mysterious mist begins to envelop the town of Bridgton, Maine, the residents begin to hear reports of something sinister out there in the obscuring fog…something with tentacles! Military personnel start appearing and townsfolk start disappearing, so it soon becomes clear that the situation is a bit more serious than just a freak weather system. Moreover, some of the residents go so far as to suggest that the mist is divine retribution delivered upon humankind by god, while others strive to maintain a sense of calm and order to pushback against the breakdown of the social contract. These two factions are ultimately brought into a brutal confrontation with one another instead of banding together to battle the common enemy…an enemy that may have ties to US Army experiments.
Hailed for its stellar camera-work and its politically relevant storyline, The Mist is one of three adaptations of Stephen King’s writing helmed by Hungarian filmmaker and fellow master of horror Frank Darabont (The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, The Walking Dead, Stranger Things)!
