Darker, funnier and more action-packed than the first film, 'Chamber' seems inspired as much by Steven Spielberg's galloping 'Raiders of the Lost Ark.'

Food on Film: TAMPOPO

Watch Trailer Director: Juzo Itami
Awards: Winner of Best Sound at the 1986 Award of the Japanese Academy

Juzo Itami’s rapturous “ramen western” returns to U.S. screens for the first time in decades, in a new 4K restoration. The tale of an enigmatic band of ramen ronin who guide the widow of a noodle shop owner on her quest for the perfect recipe, Tampopo serves up a savory broth of culinary adventure seasoned with offbeat comedy sketches and the erotic exploits of a gastronome gangster. Sweet, sexy, surreal, and mouthwatering, Tampopo remains one of the most delectable examples of food on film.

“Charming and touching, with lots of sumptuous meals to inspire you to get cooking”. – David Parkinson, Empire

“There are many love stories folded into this film’s enjoyably meandering two hours, but “Tampopo” is above all about the romance of food, and the joyous, agonizing devotion and hard work required to tease out its manifold mysteries.” – Justin Chang, The Los Angeles Times

Spring Sustainability Series: THE MESSENGER

Watch Trailer Director: Su Rynard

Su Rynard’s wide-ranging and contemplative documentary The Messenger explores our deep-seated connection to birds and warns that the uncertain fate of songbirds might mirror our own. Moving from the northern reaches of the Boreal Forest to the base of Mount Ararat in Turkey to the streets of New York, The Messenger brings us face-to-face with a remarkable variety of human-made perils that have devastated thrushes, warblers, orioles, tanagers, grosbeaks and many other airborne music-makers.

“Their findings unequivocally caution on the necessity of averting the birds’ extinction because they are an integral part of the ecological system… The slow-motion close-ups alone should convince you these magnificent creatures are well worth the effort.” – Martin Tsai, The Los Angeles Times
