What is TEDx? TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. Individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized. Our event is called TEDxOhioUniversity. This event is free and open to the public but registration is limited to 100. Register at TEDxOhioUniversity.com. Sponsored by Fire to iPhone and Knowing the Future curricular themes and the Athena Cinema.
Glenn Dutcher, Assistant Professor with Ohio University’s Department of Economics, will be giving a presentation and leading the discussion. Professor Dutcher poses this argument:
“Due to the high cost of turnover, many firms offer incentives in order to retain their employees. Some firms are taking the opposite approach and paying their employees to leave. Though this may appear counter intuitive, we provide evidence for when paying employees to leave may improve firm performance.”
