From Magnolia Pictures comes a “road movie” of a different stripe: Veteran character actress of stage and screen June Squibb stars as “Thelma”, a 93-years-young grandma who falls victim to a phone scammer and sets out on a wildly hilarious adventure with her elderly sidekick Ben (played by Richard “Shaft” Roundtree) to recover her stolen goods…and her dignity!
Squibb’s career in entertainment has lasted nearly 70 years – she debuted in Gypsy on Broadway in 1959 and has starred in countless films, including Woody Alan’s Alice for which she received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress – and, in Thelma, she shows no signs of slowing down. Written and directed by Josh Margolin, this film (based on real-life events that happened to Margolin and his own grandmother) is sure to make you laugh so hard your hair will turn grey!
