Rona has lived a wild life. After graduating from rehab, however, she decides to leave London and journey home to Scotland’s Orkney Islands to find some solace as she embarks on the never-ending path of recovery from alcohol addiction. Removing herself from the old habits and temptations of her former lifestyle is a step in the right direction at this early stage of her process; however, she soon learns that a great deal of strength, patience, and perseverance are necessary tools to uphold her commitment to live sober going forward. Feeling the pressure to return to her day-to-day existence in the city and fearing a backslide into her old ways, Rona must truly examine herself to determine which course in life will offer the best chance of staying the course.
Featuring a stellar performance from Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn, Ladybird), this powerful film from Nora Fingsheidt was based on the award-winning memoir by Scottish journalist Amy Liptrott.
