Beat the Heat: WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY

Join us during Ohio Brew Week’s Last Call Celebration, and be sure to bring your sweet tooth for the third film in our Beat the Heat summer movie series, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! This classic has been making audience’s teeth ache since 1971… from smiling, of course! Enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy.

Athena Cinema of Ohio University’s College of Fine Arts will partner with Ohio University, Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, Athens County Children Services,  Athens Public Libraries and Ohio University Credit Union to present the Athena Cinema 7th Annual Beat the Heat $2 Days Film Series and Fundraiser for Southeast Ohio Youth Mentoring! Every year, the summer series showcases children’s and family-friendly films at a discounted admission. Get out of the heat and come enjoy the cool air conditioning, delicious concessions, fun prizes, and free books at every showing!

To benefit Southeast Ohio Youth Mentoring (formerly Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Athens County), the price of admission to these screenings is a suggested minimum donation of $2 per ticket.

July 20^th: WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY: Uptown Athens Dinner & Dessert package

Athens is celebrating the 14^th Annual Ohio Brew Week! This week’s prizes are all about keeping it local with a dinner and dessert in Uptown Athens! First stop by Jackie O’s with a $35 gift card and then take a short walk over to Whit’s Frozen Custard for a sweet treat with a $10 Whit’s gift certificate.
