The Athena Cinema Partnership Program

Educate, Entertain, Engage

Have you ever wanted to be a film programmer? The Athena’s partnership program allows our partners to plan a film series of their choosing. Apply to our partnership program by downloading the form here. If you’re looking to rent out one of our theaters for just one showing or group, check out our rental page here.

The Athena Cinema has partnered with Ohio University, Athens area organizations, and local and independent filmmakers to bring you the very best in film programming. We regularly exhibit new, groundbreaking documentaries, foreign films, and award nominees, and are always looking to diversify our repertoire. We strive to find the right balance of educational, informative and entertaining film experiences for OHIO Faculty and Staff, the Athens community and the greater Southeastern Ohio region.

The Athena Cinema welcomes applicants from Ohio University, Athens and the surrounding area. To collaborate with the Athena in a programming partnership, please download the form here and email it to kamodya@ohio.edu.

Potential Funding Sources for Your Event

Many partners choose to fund their event through their own program budget, business sponsors and other partners. There are several funding opportunities that may assist with covering the venue rental and licensing fee for your event.  Here’s how to take advantage of these programs:

UFund

The mission of UFund is to fund programs, events, and trainings with an emphasis on education, service, social issues, and raising political consciousness. The proposed projects must have the potential to benefit a large portion of the student body, and must make an effort to promote accessibility and diversity.

Access the application here.

Arts for Ohio

Ohio University recognizes and supports the arts as a central component of the intellectual and social life of our community and has funded the Arts for OHIO initiative. This funding allows the College of Fine Arts to more fully integrate the arts into the culture and fabric of Ohio University by offering students free admission to our events while expanding and enhancing our offerings for our entire community.

Kennedy Lecture Series Co-Sponsorship Grants

The Kennedy Lecture Series gives priority to lectures that allow for sustained interaction between the speaker and the campus community, and lectures where two or more units are collaborating on the lecture. (This could be academic units, student organizations and or administrative units.)
