Dylan (Charlie Plummer) is a construction worker in rural New Mexico burdened with supporting his young brother and a mother struggling with alcohol abuse. Instead of plugging along into a dead-end existence, he decides to change direction in life and embark on a search for “The American Dream” by joining up with a group of queer rodeo performers.
Directed by Luke Gilford, and based on his photography monograph documenting the gay experience within the culture of western rodeos, National Anthem is a unique film that takes viewers into a world they think they know well and shows them a new perspective on the search for self-determination.
