THE FRONT ROOM

Watch Trailer Director: Sam Eggers, Max Eggers
Cast: Brandy, Andrew Burnap, Kathryn Hunter, Neal Huff

Sam Eggers, sibling to Eggers brothers Roger and Max (The Witch, The Lighthouse), makes his feature film directorial debut with a new psychological-horror film from A24 Studios!

R-n-B singing sensation Brandy takes a career detour to star as “Belinda”, a pregnant black woman whose white husband’s ailing mother makes the couple an offer they can’t refuse: she wants to move in with the pair in exchange for the hefty inheritance left over after the death of the husband’s father. Seeing an opportunity to pay off some heavy debt, Belinda champions the idea and does her best to welcome her mother-in-law into her home. Things start off pleasantly enough; however, the arrangement quickly goes to hell – literally – as the strange elderly woman, devoutly religious and deeply beholden to ideas about race shaped during the American Confederacy, sets her sights on the soul of the unborn child. The wicked mother-in-law hatches a plot to drive a wedge between Belinda and her husband, forcing Belinda to take a stand against the evil events that ensue.

Based on a short story by award-winning British author Susan Hill, this devilishly gripping thriller stars Kathryn Hunter as the mother-in-law, Andrew Burnap, and Neal Huff. Brandy’s performance is top-notch, and this exciting film is herald the beginning of an illustrious filmmaking career for Sam Eggers whose brothers have already made quite a mark on the world of cinema.

Similar in tone to such Paul Thomas Anderson films as There Will Be Blood and The Master, Mr. Corbet’s often-staggering movie casts an unsentimental look at the price of greatness.
